I am trying to connect to a Watchgaurd Firebox X1000 running WFS v7.4 with a Windows Vista Ultimate 64-bit machine. SafeNet won't be coming out with a client for a while, so I'm trying to use the built in Vista Policy Agent.
On the Vista Machine:
- I have set up a policy with 2 rules.
- One rule has a tunnel endpoint of the public IP on the Firebox.
- The other rule has a tunnel endpoint of the IP address of my Vista machine.
- Both rules are set up to use the preshared key I'm using on the Firebox.
- The IP filter list is set for any IP address on both source and destination on both rules.
- The Filter Action on both rules is Negotiate Security with ESP MD5 and 3DES.
On the Firebox:
- I have set up a username and shared key. The shared key is the same as entered in the Vista policy.
- I have assigned a virtual IP address of 172.16.0.215 and allowed access to 172.16.0.0/16
- Tunnel protection is set up as ESP with MD5-HMAC authentication and 3DES-CBC encryption
I have applied the policy in Vista.
Now how do I set up the VPN connection using this policy. I've tried multiple configurations of VPN connections, but the selections in the VPN connection setup don't make sense for what I'm trying to do.
I've called Microsoft, and so far they don't know.
