DTMF problems "sometimes" with Asterisk + x-lite > features.conf

Tags: digium, Asterisk, 1.4, x-lite
Ok...

I have several features enabled in features.conf.
I also have relaxdtmf turned on.
My featuredigittimeout is 2400

When a user types a * then the number for the corresponding feature... it "sometimes" works...and "sometimes" doesn't work...

Increasing the console verbosity...to include DTMF debugging....

I see this...

Example of a user pressing *2...only the 2 is seen.

[May 6 18:39:53] DTMF[5287]: channel.c:2155 __ast_read: DTMF begin '2' received on SIP/3008-b7d25f18
[May 6 18:39:53] DTMF[5595]: channel.c:2155 __ast_read: DTMF begin '2' received on SIP/3008-b7d77b90

[May 6 18:39:53] DTMF[5595]: channel.c:2165 __ast_read: DTMF begin passthrough '2' on SIP/3008-b7d77b90

[May 6 18:39:53] DTMF[5595]: channel.c:2080 __ast_read: DTMF end '2' received on SIP/3008-b7d77b90, duration 100 ms

as you can see they tried it twice.....
Sometimes it works and sometimes not...and when it works you can see the asterisk " * " received on the CLI.

Basically *2 invokes a macro...that begins recording on that channel and saves the wav file to a specified directory. When the * is received the macro works perfectly...but obviously sometimes, when the * is not recieved by asterisk... no fun at all.

using # for transfer works consistently....

So what's up with this.... ? anyone ? any ideas ?

...I know xlite has some problems sending dtmf as well... and btw, i've tried inband, info, rfc2833, auto...changed on both the xlite and in sip.conf. Still no good, or worse.  I've looked at hundreds of threads/forums.... and NOBODY seems to boast a REAL solution.

The Solution Rating System

With so many solutions, how can you tell which solutions are most likely to help you and which ones are not? To provide you with a tool to use, we rate our solutions based on various elements that most accurately determine if a solution is a quality solution. To explain what factors affect the solution rating, here are the elements we take into consideration when formulating our solution rating.

  • The Grade of the Solution
  • The Zone Rank of the Expert Providing the Solution
  • The Number of Author and Expert Comments
  • The Number of Experts Contributing
  • The Feedback of the Community

Your Input Matters
Because of the way the system is set up, the most important variable in this equation is you. As a member of Experts Exchange, you are able to cast your vote on the quality of the solutions in regard to how complete, accurate, helpful and easy to understand each solution is. When you provide your feedback, each rating is adjusted accordingly. So, if you see a solution that has a poor rating that you think is a good solution, let us know by rating it. As you do, the rating will be adjusted and will become more accurate for other members of our site.

If you have any suggestions that you would like to make for our rating system, please ask a question in the Suggestions Zone of Community Support.

Thank you!

Forgot to mention I put back the SIPDtmfMode(rfc2833) in the dialplan...this could have contributed
