I have been using Trixbox for a while and it is running fine. We have an analog telephone line connected and both a SIP phone and an anlogue, using a FXO/FXS card.
The telephone company is useless. The analogue phone line has always been bad and the sound quality poor. So I have been hoping for something better to come along. Skype or other International products is not an option because our International connectivity is too congested.
Luckily our local ISP has now implemented their own VOIP product with interconnects to the various land line and mobile operators. This they plan to market to ADSL users who will connect to their Asterisk server using SIP or AIX.
I asked for SIP detail to have a feed into my Trixbox and they supplied me with a telephone number, username, password and servername in the format sip.ispname.com (real servername withheld)
So I went into Trixbox, and set up a SIP connection, but I'm sure I did it wrong. I don't know enough to figure out what and the ISP says they don't have time to help even if I offer to pay. We don't have a firewall between the two servers, just a standard ADSL router with NAT. (The NAT is not a problem, because my Trixbox is expected to initiate the connection.)
This is just a personal thing and I would like to figure it out, but I must admit I've managed to confuse myself. Please help.
