I would strongly advise against using skype. You are far better off using a standard voip system instead.
With skype there is no standard ports being used and no standard servers you are talking to. This means you can only use your default internet connection and cannot provide any QOS (quality of service). If someone downloads a large file while you are on the phone then it can disrupt the call. With other proper VoIP systems you can prioritise the traffic or dedicate a second internet connection just for voip.

standard rate varies from 3 to 16K depending on other users bandwidth. for calculations, i typically use 20k as a measuring stick - easy to do math with and is more conservative. so with my math, 160k - but reality is 48-128k. error on consertive.
