Question

Can't add a DN to a CTI route point on Call manager due to....

Asked by: dan_ch

Hello,

I'm trying to add a DN to a CTI route point which routes to Unity directly. This allows me to have a voicemail box be reachable that is not tied to a phone. So I can dial XXXX and leave a message for this person directly. The reason we have this setup is because 2 people share a phone and we have a call handler on the phone extension to route messages to person 1 or person 2 by pushing 1 or 2 if know one picks up the phone. The caller then obviously can leave the private message for person 1 or person 2 depending on who they wanted to talk to. I have the CTI route point up and running, and it works for 2 DNs that are set up on it. I'm adding a 3rd and 4th DN to this route point.
The error message I receive says:
"Add failed. Sum of device's line appearance values for maxNumCalls exceed device limitation". On the Multiple Call/Call Waiting Settings on Device ROUTE_TO_VM section(the name I gave the CTI ROUTE POINT) I keep changing the Max number of calls to 1 and busy trigger to 1 to see if this resolves it but it does not. I had to do this on the other DNs tied to this route point and that fixed the issue. This time it will not let me.
Any ideas?

Maybe configure another CTI route point and add the other 2 DNs to this one.  You know how say a 7960 phones has different profiles.  You can make it a 2 line phone - a 4 phone line phone etc.. You can only add DNs to the phone if it has room for it according to its profile.  Perhaps the profile for the CTI is 2 DNs.

Hello.  I knew that I could just create another route point, though I was trying to keep things clean and use existing ones instead.  I don't know what the profile has for its defaults, though if you think of it in those terms that makes total sense.  I would be interested in knowing though.  Since we aren't strong cisco voice guys here, we have to make things work as much as possible.  Here are 2 screenshots of the settings for this CTI route point.  I'm going to go ahead and accept this solution.  If you happen to find out more info, we would appreciate it greatly.  Thanks!

Thanks again.  I just uploaded some screenshot, though I don't know if you got them or not because I accepted the solution after uploading them. Not sure what the profile allows, so I made some screenshots of the CTI device info and Device Pool settings.  It doesn't look like there is anything in there that tells to me, but who knows. Maybe you have more insight into this than I do.  Thanks.

There is no option there for a different profile like there is on a phone.   So I am thinking you are limited to 2.  I have never seen more than 2.  With multple CTIs though you can at least put a description on each CTI so you know who its for.

Yeah, I didn't see anything there either.  Though other CTI's do have more than 2 DNs.  So there must be a different configuration somehwere that allows this to happen.
