The reason I'm not able to hook up the router/digital phone adaptor is because it is an ethernet router with no USB port. My modem is USB.
Main Topics
Browse All TopicsI'm running Windows XP Pro, ADSL service with an international (Poland) local phone service via USB modem (Thomson Speedtouch 330). As I live in Poland and all my family is in the States I want to be able to take advantage of VoIP services, so I ordered Vonage and was assured by their tech support that I could use my USB connection with their equipment. All I needed to purchase was a USB to ethernet adapter. I purchased a netgear FA-120 USB 2.0 to fast ethernet adapter even though I have an ethernet card. I received my router/digital phone adaptor, a Motorola Voice Terminal VT1005V and am not able to hook it up. After numerous sessions with Vonage, international long distance the tech finally determined that their web site and phone tech service is wrong. I can not use their service. Anybody have any options? The obvious would be to ask my ISP for an ethernet modem, which I'm going to try. Or to purchase a different router/digital phone adaptor. Any other suggestions, I can't believe that I'm the first person to confront Vonage with this situation and that there isn't a solution to somehow make this work. This is my first post to this forum so please forgive me if I've left out something important. Thanks.

This sounds like a regular problem that occurs nowadays. ISP's giving out USB modems, it's a nightmare. Not sure what options you have, except for buying a ethernet modem like you said or a ADSL router.
You said: "I received my router/digital phone adaptor, a Motorola Voice Terminal VT1005V and am not able to hook it up." Why is this? Is it not compatible?
Sorry this isn't much help, but I don't think you have many options at all really.
