We have a analog phone in the hall by the front door, that we keep locked at all times. In our current PBX we have this analog phone setup to be a "hotline" -- that is whenever it is taken off hook it instantly dials the operator exetention with no requriemtn for the user to dial any numbers. I must keep this process as simple as possible, and remove the ability for anyone to pickup the phone and dial an outline line. The only purpose for this phone is to make an internal call to let us know someone is at the door.
I'm looking for a way to replicate this same behavior in Asterisk. Cna anyone offer any advice?

You best bet would be to use a standard analogue telephone connected to an ATA (analogue telephone adapter) such as the Sipura SPA-1001. If you look at page 87 of the manual available from http://www.sipura.com/supp ort/index. htm you can see you can configure it to automatically dial a specific number as soon as the handset is lifted (Hot Line)
