Connecting to a ShoreGear switch

Hello, I need to know how I can connect to a shoregear switch.  I tried telnet but we forgot the password.
I don't know if I can connect using a web browser.
according to Shoretel i can connect using a straight through serial cable but for some reason I can't.  I am using 19200 8 n 1 n but still no luck.
I do know the IP address of the device.
is there a manager?

There are three ways to connect to a shoretel switch:  serial cable to the maintenance port on the Shoretel; telnet to the switch; and the browser interface under Shoreware Director.   With the serial cable you will come into a menu driven configuration utility if the flash is not scrambled.  If it is srambled you will come into the VMX level and you will need the maintenance manual to decode configuration options.   The Telnet option requires the use of the ipbxctl -telneton utility and must be run to enable telnet on the ShorTel.  Is the switch part of a system and can you get to it with the broswer?
