I don't have experience with this particular phone, but if it truly works with SIP standards, it should be all good with ShoreTel, with the following conditions:

1.  You are running ShoreTel 8.0 or greater.  SIP endpoints are not supported until this release.
2.  You have purchased a SIP Device license.  (Of course you can test it for 40 days without buying it)

If you have those two things, let me know, and then I can help you set up the device within ShoreTel.

Hi,

I am running Shoretel 8.1, I don't have a sip license yet but as you said I am good for 40 days. I got this guide from the Shoretel Forum but I still have had no luck I also got the user agent of the phone so I could setup a sip profile. Any help would be appreciated.

In ShoreWare Director (ShoreTel 8+):
===========================
1) Under Administration -> Call Control -> Options
- Set your SIP Realm to "ShoreTel" (can be any string, but that's the one I used)
- Enable SIP Session Timer
- Set Session Interval to "3600"
- Set Refresher to "Caller (UAC)"
- Disable "Always Use Port 5004 for RTP"

2) Under Administration -> Switches
- Choose a switch with at least 5 free IP Phone ports
- Change one of the ports from "5 IP Phones" to "100 Sip Proxy"
- Write down the IP address of the switch (you'll need it later)

3) Under Administration -> Sites
- Choose the site associated with the switch you chose in step 2
- Under the "SIP Proxy" section set "Proxy Switch 1" to the switch you chose in step 2

4) Under Administration -> Users -> Individual Users
- Select the user you want to assign to that phone (or you can create a new user)
- Take note of that users extension (aka the "Number" field)
- Make sure they are assigned to the same site as the switch (see step 2).
- Set their "Home Port" to "Any IP Phone"
- Scroll down and set their "SIP Password" (note: you must set a sip password, there is no default)

In X-Lite:
==============================
Under "SIP Account Settings"
- Select your account (free version only allows one) and choose "Properties" (or you can create a new account)
* Display Name: <the name to show on CID>
* User name: <ShoreTel extension>
* Password: <SIP Password (see Step 4)>
* Authorization user name: <blank>
* Domain: <ip address of switch (see Step 2)>
- Under "Domain Proxy"
* Enable "Register with Domain to receive incoming calls"
* Set "Send outbound via" to "domain"

For Polycom IP 500 (aka ShorePhone IP 100 running SIP firmware)
======================
- Under SIP -> Servers, set "Server 1 Address" to the IP address of your ShoreGear switch (see Step 2).
- Under Lines -> Line 1
* Display Name: <name shown in CID>
* Address: <ShoreTel extension>
* Auth User ID: <ShoreTel extension>
* Auth Password: <users SIP password>

Note: make sure the user is set to "Any IP Phone" before you try to
register them to a new SIP device. If it all worked you should be able to go to Administration -> IP Phones -> Individual IP Phones and see a new entry called "SIP-XXXXX" and under that users account their IP Phone should be set to "SIP-XXXXX"

Hi Guys here are the complete steps for getting a UniData WPU-7700 wireless phone working with Shoretel 8.x took a while but it was fun!!

I would like to thank Nethab on the Yahoo Shoretel Forums and shoretelfourms.com for steps 1 to 4.

In ShoreWare Director (ShoreTel 8+):
===========================
1) Under Administration -> Call Control -> Options
- Set your SIP Realm to "ShoreTel" (can be any string, but that's the one I used)
- Enable SIP Session Timer
- Set Session Interval to "3600"
- Set Refresher to "Caller (UAC)"
- Disable "Always Use Port 5004 for RTP"

2) Under Administration -> Switches
- Choose a switch with at least 5 free IP Phone ports
- Change one of the ports from "5 IP Phones" to "100 Sip Proxy"
- Write down the IP address of the switch (you'll need it later)

3) Under Administration -> Sites

5)Under Call Control->SIP Profiles
-Click on new to create a new profile.
-Name the profile WPU-7700
-Set the User Agent to WPU-7700-v2.1.1/0
-Set Priority to 100
-Click on Enable and Save the Profile

6)Create the Following TXT File on a TFTP Server
-File has to be called - - E1_common.ini

[SIP]
Local_Port = 5060

[NETWORK1]
SIP_Outbound_Proxy= 192.168.5.113 (From Step 2)
Local_Port = 5060

7)Create this TXT file on the TFTP server e1_(Mac address of Wireless phone).ini
Eg: e1_00032a191979.ini

[USER_ACCOUNT]
Displayname =125
Phone_Number =125
User_ID =wd(Sip user ID from step 4)
User_Password =M00yabastard(Sip Password from Step 4)

[SERVER_SETTINGS]
1st_Proxy = 192.168.5.113 (From Step 2)
2nd_Proxy =
Domain_Realm =192.168.5.113 (From Step 2)
Register_Expire = 3600

8)Turn on the Wireless Phone and go to Settings and then Admin. (Default Admin password is 000000)
-go to APS Address
-Set the Protocol to TFTP
-Set the IP to the address of the TFTP server
-Set Use BOOTP to NO
-Save the settings and reboot the phone.

The phone should now be up and running. If you run into problems telnet onto the switch and enable sip debug mode to see what is going on.

To enable SIP Debug From Telent

will need to "gotoShell".
Then from the vxworks CLI,

sip_debug_level=2

Don't forget to turn off Debug!!
sip_debug_level=0

For those of you who do not know how to enable Telnet from your ShoreTel Server in CMD
Goto cd to drive letter:\Program files\Shoreline Communications\ShoreWare Server\
And run ipbxctl.exe -telneton ipaddress of switch.

The reason for using the TFTP server is because of a lack of options on the phone itself to set port numbers and server settings.

Nice!

Few little follow up comments for other readers:

1.  Be aware that by disabling "Always use port 5004 for RTP" you may break established QoS classifications on routers.  If you have a private WAN, it may have been engineered to prioritize RTP packets on port 5004 when QoS was set up.  Therefore, if you have MPLS and a WAN, double check how your carrier is classifying VoIP traffic.

2. Step 6,7,8 above are specific to this brand of wireless phone.  Be aware that other SIP devices will require different syntax and etc. to provision it's SIP settings.

Other than that, great solution.

Best,
Matt
