Skype and Netgear Wireless Router Setup

I recently installed a Netgear RangeMax Wireless Router WPN824, v3 in my office building.  It's connected to Comcast Modem/Router on one end and wired to EN switch on the other, and wireless is in use.  Everything on the network works great, wireless and wired and internet access is no problem and after doing some tests it seems I'm getting the high speed I was told I would (10Mbs down and 2 up)  The Netgear is supplying the IP addresses etc.  It's pretty much set to default (except for Password, etc) and the Comcast cable modem is set as default also.

But, there does seem to be an intermittent problem when using Skype.  We are using the Skype software on one PC and it periodically drops out (calls drop) or doesn't answer the call.  Not all the time, just periodically, say once or twice during the day, and on some days it's been a lot worse.

The PC it's running on is very low end, fairly new, but low end Celeron with minimum memory. It's one of Dell's low end desktops.  Running Windows XP

So my question is, does the Netgear router need to be setup differently, or what could cause a problem like this.

Thanks,
Joe

Although I have not tried your answer, it none the less was very informative and will help.  It's just that over the last week or so we haven't had as many problems, and I found out that my problems can be typical of Skype, so I decided not to mess with anything.  We also only have one PC on the Skype.  But thanks for your help. I appreciate it.
