I have a Verizon mobile broadband usb modem for my laptop, but it will also work on a computer.
I use it mainly for work but only when going away really...
We are in an area which does not have high speed internet access and I wondered if I could plug that usb modem into my one computer and then use Internet Connection Sharing and share it with another computer in the house?
I know this can be done with regular cable / dsl, but I didn't know if it was possible with this type of service...

The best way to do this is with an EVDO router --- this is an excellent one:

A standard router is not designed to interact with an EVDO source -- it needs a cable modem or DSL modem connected via standard ethernet. But an EVDO router is designed for the wireless EVDO modems like you're using. You simply plug your card (or connect it via USB if you have a USB version) into the router, and all of your other devices will work through the router ... either wirelessly (via WiFi) or with a hard wired connection.
The EVDO router I suggested even comes with a car power connector ... so you can use it in a car, truck, boat, RV, etc. to share the signal to multiple PC's while you're on the road :-)
As long as a dial up connection was created when you installed the USB modem and you are able to dial from this, or can create one and successfully connect without any software HAVING to do it for you then it should be ok.
After that you then have to take into account the normal rules for ICS i.e. IP address being 192.168.0.1 and all other devices on your network set to automatically optain IP details from this, unless you have non XP or Vista devices then the easiest way to do this would be to run the network wizard.
If you don't want to buy an EVDO router (which is by far the best option here), you CAN set up Internet Connection Sharing to work with this. The disadvantages of this are: (1) A PC will always have to be on to share the connection (with the router any PC can use it regardless of which other PC's are on or off); (2) if you use a router you'll need to understand how to configure it as a switch ... turn off DHCP; don't use the WAN port; etc.; (3) you'll need to set up the ICS machine to serve as a DHCP server for other PC's you connect to it ... with just one other PC you can use a direct ethernet connection; if you want more than one you'll need to use a hub or switch (or a router configured as a switch).
Done this both ways ... the EVDO router is BY FAR the better way to do it :-)

As long as it creates a new network connection in your network connection section of the control panel.. then yes, it should work fine... bear in mind that it will force your local IP address to 192.168.0.1..
