The Solution Rating System

With so many solutions, how can you tell which solutions are most likely to help you and which ones are not? To provide you with a tool to use, we rate our solutions based on various elements that most accurately determine if a solution is a quality solution. To explain what factors affect the solution rating, here are the elements we take into consideration when formulating our solution rating.

  • The Grade of the Solution
  • The Zone Rank of the Expert Providing the Solution
  • The Number of Author and Expert Comments
  • The Number of Experts Contributing
  • The Feedback of the Community

Your Input Matters
Because of the way the system is set up, the most important variable in this equation is you. As a member of Experts Exchange, you are able to cast your vote on the quality of the solutions in regard to how complete, accurate, helpful and easy to understand each solution is. When you provide your feedback, each rating is adjusted accordingly. So, if you see a solution that has a poor rating that you think is a good solution, let us know by rating it. As you do, the rating will be adjusted and will become more accurate for other members of our site.

If you have any suggestions that you would like to make for our rating system, please ask a question in the Suggestions Zone of Community Support.

Thank you!

Need wiring diagram or standards for 25-pair CAT5e cable

Asked by robcambra in Telecommunications Providers, Networking Cables, Miscellaneous Hardware

I want to understand the standard usage for a 25-pair CAT5e cable.  There is some conflicting information Im reading about how to use this type of cable.  My application is for 1000Base-T from a 110-style panel to another 110-style panel.  One side of the cable will be terminated to a CAT5e (RJ45) keystone panel (Panduit) and the other end terminated to a standard 110-style punch-down 24-port panel (Hubbell).
The information I dug up so far seems to conflict.  Some in the Ethernet/Datacom field say you cannot use a 25-pair CAT5e cable in this fashion because the pairs in a 25-pair cable are twisted differently than a standard 4-pair CAT5e cable due to unique NEXT reduction requirements.  The only use for a 25-pair CAT5e cable, according to this camp is with a special panel that only accepts pre-manufactured 25-pin connectors.  Others say that there is no issue using a 25-pair CAT5e cable in the way my application proposes.
My question has two parts; 1) Can a 25-pair CAT5e cable be terminated end-to-end on two standard 110-style panels?  2) If so, is there a standard color/pin-out due to the fact that after pair #4, I have no idea what color combinations to use (I could figure it out, but want to adhere to standards if any).
