Browse All TopicsGreetings,
My company has a video conferncing system (polycom VSX 7000). We want to make a VC call to another company that uses ISDN (completely seperate networks) while our VC system is setup to only use IP.
My company has told me to look into getting a dedicated ISDN line. However, I'm not sure that is the most optimal solution. I've been looking into IP to ISDN calls and it seems that such things are done. What I've learned so far is that you need to make sure that the system is registered with a gatekeeper (gateway?). Unforunitly I can't find much else about the topic and I'm pretty new to supporting VC equipment.
I'm unsure of exactly how to go about making the IP to ISDN connection and am looking for some help or possibly know where to go to look for more information.
Thanks in advance for any help provided.

You need a bridge to connect IP and ISDN calls. Unless you're going to be doing a lot of video conferences involving ISDN, it doesn't make sense to buy the hardware and have ISDN lines installed. Instead, you can use a service provider to handle the bridging.
