I am new to Unix and I have not been able to find a step by step guide for installing snmp on HP-UX 11.31.
Googling has suggested that I need to download net-snmp from http://net-snmp.sourceforg
How do I know which file to download? Once downloaded, what do I do next?
Thanks.

I have edited the snmpd.conf to set the get-community-name to the desired string and the line is not commented out.
[root@XXX]# ps -ef | grep snmpd
root 1544 1 0 May 4 ? 0:00 /usr/lbin/cmsnmpd
root 1449 1 0 May 4 ? 0:00 /usr/sbin/snmpdm
root 12158 29874 0 18:16:37 pts/0 0:00 grep snmpd
I am not able to add host using the string to my management system.
Also, how do I make sure the service starts on reboot?

SNMP is included in all HP-UX distributions. Check your startup files to verify snmpd is set to start at bootup.
