What is the best corporate wide antivirus solution available?
I am currently looking at Symantec Norton AntiVirus Solution Suite.
Is this a good choice?

I think NAV is fine. But if you want to prevent all viruses, impossible.
You can use both NAV, AVP in your computer for better result. And use TrojanDenfence Suite (TDS) for prevent TROJAN Horse virus which NAV and AVP can't detect most of them.

You might want to consider using one on the PC's and a different one on the servers. Double protection, if it is missed by one it might be spotted by the other.
I use McAfee and I am very pleased with it's performance across the network. We have never had any problems with virus's that it could not detect. I have however heard some rumblings about Norton though. They say that if you want to run Norton only run the anti-virus. The rest of the suite is crap and will just bog down your pc/network. I got this information from a netowrk consultant who made the mistake of installing it on a client's site.
As for updates with McAfee. You can have them delivered to you automatically. You can download either the DAT file updates in zip format or a self installing executable. I personnally use the self installing exe. I then put it out on my Novell network and all of my users load it via Novell Application Launcher. I know that it is important for our network to be safe but I also feel that I should not be the only one who cares so I leave the updates to the end user to install and then I do a check of a department every once in awhile. Seems to work ok.

The problem I was having with Macafee was that is wasn't catching Virii on NT that it was catching on my 95 machines. However Norton caught it on both, this was with the newest engines and DATs on both.
Norton's is the best since the upda tes canbe download by the user or if you are using the NT Mgmt Version then it can PUSH the software to clients
Please note that WIN9X clients needs to be loaded with NAV Client s /w before installation. NTS / WKS is auto.
IN Solomon's the discovery of Networked PC is through the use of Network Remote Administration
In the case of NAV updates are available in every week and you need to download just the updated dat around 2MB or so rather than the whole software in Net Assoc.
