The Solution Rating System

With so many solutions, how can you tell which solutions are most likely to help you and which ones are not? To provide you with a tool to use, we rate our solutions based on various elements that most accurately determine if a solution is a quality solution. To explain what factors affect the solution rating, here are the elements we take into consideration when formulating our solution rating.

  • The Grade of the Solution
  • The Zone Rank of the Expert Providing the Solution
  • The Number of Author and Expert Comments
  • The Number of Experts Contributing
  • The Feedback of the Community

Your Input Matters
Because of the way the system is set up, the most important variable in this equation is you. As a member of Experts Exchange, you are able to cast your vote on the quality of the solutions in regard to how complete, accurate, helpful and easy to understand each solution is. When you provide your feedback, each rating is adjusted accordingly. So, if you see a solution that has a poor rating that you think is a good solution, let us know by rating it. Using VPN to tunnel to my home net

Hi there helpmates,
I want to use MS-VPN (or a similar PPTP service) to tunnel in to my home LAN when I'm away. The scenerio would be like this: I'm in a hotel and want to use some form of VPN to use my home net via a DUN connection from the hotel. So when I'm ready to hang up with the spouse I simply say "Oh honey, would you have the proxy server dial in to our local ISP for me?, Thanks talk tomorrow".
     Now the problem: my ISP will assign me a DHCP address and I can't have any way of configuring VPN with a URL or static IP to my home server that is now connected to the Internet. I would probably use NetZero or something from the hotel to avoid a double connection collision with my local ISP at home. (Don't worry were only talking about 20 min. or so a week of time, and it's just not worth paying for another dial up account) So does anyone have any suggestions or software (freeware great!) solutions. Maybe I can use a Web page on my home machine or something as a gateway. Anything allowing me to use something other than the DHCP address I'm assigned seems to be necessary.
     The more detailed the information the more points I will throw to the right person, I'm not going to be cheap about this problem.
