Cannot connect to or find computer on the network with \\computer_name

I have about 8 workstations in a workgroup with all workstations configured with the same name.

All of a sudden a couple of workstations will not connect to or find a workstation that is used as central storage of a database file. Other workstations connect ok using \\computer_name

These couple workstations cannot find the central workstation using the network search, network browse or drive mapping.

I have host files configured and they can ping by name and IP Address OK.

I have a gut feeling it has something to do with the Norton Internet Security Suite on the central workstation.

I feel the network options have to be ok as they worked at one point.

Most of the workstations are XP Pro one is W98. One W98 wont connect and one XP Pro.

Any ideas?
