Lost Connection to Server

In the office where I work we have a server running Windows Server 2003 and four other computers on the network. Three of the four run Windows XP Pro and the fourth runs Windows 98. For some reason the Win 98 computer lost its connection to the network so the boss decided this would be a good time to upgrade to Windows XP Pro. What issues should I be aware of as we upgrade to be sure we get back on the network?
