Cannot access a Windows 98 shared local printer from a Vista laptop connecting via Linksys wireless

I have an older compaq PC running windows 98SE that has an HP DJ LJ600 [?] connected via a parrallel cable. The printer is shared.

I have a DELL laptop that is connecting to the LAN via a Linksys WRT54G wireless router. The desktop is connected to the same router via the LAN port in the back. The router is connected to a Cablevision modem via the WAN port.

Both PC and laptop have no problems accessing the internet. But when I try to install the HP printer that has been shared on the PC from the laptop it sees it, but can't connect  to it.
