I just bought my second HP X4000 workstation. I trie to install XP Pro and it giving me a message error
PXE-E61: media test failure
PXE-MOF: existing intel PXE ROM
operating system not found
I disable media boot in the bios...did nothing. I reset all the data in the BIOS and did nothing to. I clear the CMOS and also did nothing. Can you tell me why the PC cannot boot from the XP boot cd. The order of boot in the bios put the cd on top and after it's the floppy. I even try a killdisk on my SCSI 36GB HD and also did nothing. Can someone help me?

Ok, you've verified that the CDROM drive works and that another hard drive works in this machine. If the hard drive in this machine is faulty, you may have problems booting from a CD, so disconnect the hard drive and see if the CD boots without the hard disk. If it does, your hard disk is the source of the problem.
Three things:
- Did you try a different CDROM drive in the machine? The one you have may be bad.
- What color are the 4 LEDs on the machine? These are useful indicators of bad hardware.
- There is also the possibility that the power supply isn't working right, even though you heard the hard drive spinning.
I would also disable any setting in the BIOS that sets the boot to network option, no matter where it is in the boot order.
The CDROM working fine, i tried it on another PC. The led are all green. I just find on the net that my problem could be that my X4000 is set in RAID, that is mounted with a HD SCSI 15K. I said previously the my X4000 (the trouble one) work perfecly with my other SCSI HD that is working on my other X4000. Is there any way change the setting of a RAID config so that i could install XP on my SCSI and maybe put and anther HD in IDE if it possible. The capacity of the BIOS alowed me to install 292GB.

If your controller is set up for RAID and you add a hard drive, the drive will not be recognized until the drive is configured for RAID in the controller BIOS. If it's only one drive, you can't set it up for RAID, because both RAID-0 and RAID-1 require at least 2 disks. You have to hit F10 while it is booting to get into the controller BIOS. When you do, set it for non-RAID or JBOD (just a bunch of disks).

My guess would be that the port (IDE or SATA) of the CDROM drive is not enabled in the BIOS and you need to enable it or the drive is broken or the disc is not bootable. Test the disc in another machine to see if it boots, and try a different drive.
