DNS/Netbios/WINS Problems

Asked by thomasguidry in Domain Name Service (DNS), WINS, Net BIOS and NetBEUI

Tags: DNS, WINS, NETBIOS

We have been using an imaging process for the last year that joins computers to our domain when the computer is imaged.

Let's say our domain is domain.net

The image searches for just "domain" to try and join the computer to the domain
This was working before and is not now working.

The error we get is The domain name "domain might be a NetBIOS name. If this is the case, pverify that the domain name is properly registered with WINS

The following error occurred when DNS was queried for the service location (SRV) resource used to locate a domain controller for domain "domain"

The error was DNS name does not exist.

The computer will join the domain if we use domain.net but not domain.

What should we be looking at to troubleshoot.
