Windows Networking Not Working

Asked by zorvek in Internet Protocols, Windows NT Networking, Windows Networking

Windows XP. Connected to a home network via a router. The box sees nothing on the network. I can't ping the router (error 65) or any other device. Firefox sees nothing. Windows file sharing sees nothing. Messenger states the gateway is offline. All other Windows XP and Vista boxes on the network don't have any issues but they don't see the problem box nor can the problem box see them. I have connected via wire, wireless, and through my wireless phone via a completely different network with the same results. When I run IPCONFIG /renew the connection appears to be fine and a new DHCP lease is obtained. If I run IPCONFIG /all everything appears in good shape. So IPCONFIG can see the router but PING can't.

Odd thing is when I run IE it sees the network and lets me browse the web and configure my router as if there were no network connectivity issues at all. But that's the ONLY thing that works.

Of course I have rebooted the box, the router, and the modem a number of times.

I need help!
