I have a win server 2003 machine that is acting as a web server. It is on a domain with the global IP address forwarded to the local pc through NAT on a Cisco Router .
Over a period of time, usually 6-12 hours, the server loses all connectivity via tcp/ip. You cannot navigate to any web pages via internet explorer or Windows Explorer, even if you put the direct IP addresses into the browser. It does not function on either the local ip or WAN Ip addressess.
However, via CMD prompt, you can ping all ip addresses fine and resolve any domain names such as google.com etc.
If you do a hard reboot of the server, the problem goes away for a while, then returns 6-12 hours later.
This problem happened on a Win XP server that I had a clean install and configured with identical software so I rebuilt this server with Win2003Server, installed the same programs and configured it identically to the old server but same problem occured.
Only programs that are installed/running is: 1. IIS 6 with PHP 4 2. MYSQL 4 3. Win FTP Server
If the same problem exists on the same physical computer, but a fresh install of the operating system, I would say that it points at hardware, have you tried replacing the NIC?
