I have a problem with a XP laptop in one of my offices that has WINS addresses entered. These are incorrect and pointing to the wrong server, but no matter what I do, everytime I remove them and reboot, they come back in again.
The DHCP on the DC is broadcasting the correct addresses and therefore can't work out where they are being overridden too.
Can anyone help please? At the moment I've just gone into the TCP/IP config, Advanced, WINS and removed the entries and rebooted, but it still appears back
Looks as though going in safe-mode and removing them did the trick. I then had to add the correct ones in safe-mode as I had the same problem as before. My DHCP should be sending out the correct ones but doesn't appear to be working.
Hopefully this will sort the original issue in that a user has slow file access on his local server, but the WINS addresses were pointing to another server in another office.
