Configuring WINS on Windows Server 2008
Hello,
We have just purchased a few new servers that have Windows Server 2008 installed on them, and I would like to replace our old servers with Windows Server 2003. I was able to transfer all of the FSMO roles, and replicate AD and DNS on all of the new servers. My question is that one of my Domain controllers had WINS on it. How will I be able to put this on a Windows Server 2008 Domain Controller?
Please help...thank you!

To install WINS on a Server 2008 machine you will need to open the Server Manager, go to the Features pane and start the Add Feature wizard. You can then progress through the wizard, which will install WINS on your Server 2008 machine. Once WINS is installed, you can open the WINS console from Administrative Tools and configure the 2003 server as a replication partner to replicate the WINS database from/to.
You may want to consider at this stage whether you need WINS. Windows Server 2008 no longer requires it, and neither does any of Microsoft's new software, such as Exchange 2007.
