I have a new Point to Point T1 between sites that I can ping all systems and RDP or Telnet to all systems in both directions however I cant see the domain from from the new site to the existing. I need to promot a server on the new site to a domain controler and join all the servers to the domain. The routers on the Point to Point are Cisco 2611's.
First make sure your DNS entries are correct, but also add the existing DC/domain to the LMHOSTS file with PRE and DOM tags on the remote server you want to promote, currently your server has no idea where to look for the DC, doing the above gives it a signpost. Once you have done the necessary DC promotion etc you should be able to empty the LMHOSTS file again.
You will find the LMHOSTS file in C:\windows\system32\drivers\etc ... if it is not there already then copy and rename the LMHOSTS.SAM.
No firewall between the sites, Active Directory servers on both sides of the site with the master being on the remote side each running DNS and WNS. DNS, WINS, and LMHOST files setup on each cleint.
nbtstat does not see the domain on the cleints with problems
