The Solution Rating System

With so many solutions, how can you tell which solutions are most likely to help you and which ones are not? To provide you with a tool to use, we rate our solutions based on various elements that most accurately determine if a solution is a quality solution. To explain what factors affect the solution rating, here are the elements we take into consideration when formulating our solution rating.

  • The Grade of the Solution
  • The Zone Rank of the Expert Providing the Solution
  • The Number of Author and Expert Comments
  • The Number of Experts Contributing
  • The Feedback of the Community

Your Input Matters
Because of the way the system is set up, the most important variable in this equation is you. As a member of Experts Exchange, you are able to cast your vote on the quality of the solutions in regard to how complete, accurate, helpful and easy to understand each solution is. When you provide your feedback, each rating is adjusted accordingly. So, if you see a solution that has a poor rating that you think is a good solution, let us know by rating it. As you do, the rating will be adjusted and will become more accurate for other members of our site.

If you have any suggestions that you would like to make for our rating system, please ask a question in the Suggestions Zone of Community Support.

Thank you!

Remote Routing

Asked by mgwalm in Windows NT Networking

I have a problem, again, accessing a remote server, eg, i cant ping it, or cant access Exchange server on it.

The suitation is: I have a Win2000(or 98) workstation connecting to a remote NT 4 Small business serve through a VPN. I dial the ISP ok, Connect to the remove server by its IP address ok, this logs me on. I can browse the server in Explorer. However i cant ping the ser er either by IP(local) or name.

Teh workstation is on another small business server. This server's ip address is 10.0.0.2, my ip address on this LAN is 10.0.0.13. Teh dialed in servers local ip address is 10.0.0.1.

On the Win 2000 workstation i can ping 10.0.0.2(the loacl) but not 10.0.0.1(the dialed into server).
On win98 i can ping 10.0.0.1 but not 10.0.0.2.

I think the problem is i need to create a static route to 10.0.0.1.

However after many atmpts to read and understand the route parameters i cant figure it out.

As a further problem, other PCs on the local network cant see or ping any computers on the dialed into network.

Soem help would be appreciated.
