Browse All TopicsHello,
There is a desktop that was setup and joined to the domain. The desktop was brought home by the user and he vpns in occasionally with the desktop to do work. The user also has a laptop joined to the domain. When he was in the office with his laptop he changed his password.
Now when he attempts to use the desktop after vpned in, it seems the windows 2000 server desktop machine was still caching the old password. This causes his account to lockout when attempting to access resources. How can you get the PC at home to sync with the changed password on the network? If he vpns in with the desktop and changes his password then his laptop will be out of sync with the password.
Is there a way to delete the cached password on his desktop after he vpns in to the LAN and/or delete the cached password of the network resources?
Thank you.
(I will not forget what I said JammyPak)

Okay, here's the trick to you;
On the desktop, create local user account with the same username of the domain user account and set the password to the new password of the domain user account, and with this local user account you will still be able to access domain resources.
Notes:
-Just run once "\\domain_servername\share
-For the mapped network drives you will need to reconnect and create the mapping on the new local profile, in Win2K server you *might* need to enter USERNAME and Password for the first connection time, for the XP it will just use the same credentials of the local user to connect to the domain.
-Note that you'll need to use "DOMAIN\Username" instead of "Username" in the [username and password] window.

Hello,
indows2000 /techinfo/ reskit/too ls/ existin g/klist-o. asp
If I am reading this correctly it looks to be a permissions issue and not a password problem.
If he can get by the Terminal Service logon screen then his password is good
I don't think this applies but....
to purge previous logon credentials that are retained on the computer download klist from here:
http://www.microsoft.com/w
then click start >> run >>cmd
klist purge
