how can i find ip address from a chat conversation
i was wondering if i could find ip address from a chat conversation.... would i be able to find the ip only during chattin(when there is server to server communication ) or after the chat conversation....iif so how does it work... i wanna find out the ip address of a person whom i am chattin in yahoo messenger ...

as i mentioned above, it is possible to find the buddy's ip address if you invoke file transfer during the conversation even the connection is denied finally.

what do you mean about the "message index"? personally, and commonly, you can not determine the ip address after the conversation except that your IM client supports detailed log on this.

a trick you may try: just enable file transfer during the chatting procedure, regardless if your buddy agree to receiving the file or not, a connection is going to be established for the file transfer, so you may use NETSTAT -A to check the buddy's ip address.
