I have D-Link 520+ PCI adapter on Windows system which connects to Cisco Aironet AP (ISP).
I currently have one active PPPoE connection, but when I try to start another i got error 633 (modem/device in use).

right..so you dont have any other device attached to your machine?  i have feeling that you maybe able to get multiple pppoe connections through one AP from different machines but not mulitple connections from one machine.

by: MihailoPosted on 2004-05-22 at 06:41:54ID: 11132897

No, I have single WLAN adapter on that machine.

yes thats what i mean, i think you cant have multiple ppoe connections over one wlan adapter.

Mihailo, if you dont mind, would you please tell us why you want establish more than one pppoe connections over one adapter?

by: MihailoPosted on 2004-05-23 at 10:38:59ID: 11138446

Because I want to share one connection, and keep one for XP machine only.

-----------------
The protocol is capable of running several simultaneous PPP over Ethernet sessions through one adapter. This feature will probably be very rarely - if ever - needed. To allow this, you can configure the number of WAN endpoints (dial-up devices) the protocol exposes for a network adapter. The default is 1, and up to 10 WAN endpoints can be configured. This setting requires a reboot to take effect.
------------------

This may work, but I prefer no to use 3rd-party protocols. Any ideas?

Mihailo, i just had a test on my windows 2003, its pppoe implementation does support only ONE ppoe connection at a time, even with more than one ethernet adapters available on the computer, XP systems should perform same as this. so i think microsoft and Robert Schlabbach have different implementations on same protocol. for 2003 and XP, it is a by-design feature of MS' pppoe implementation.

ok, back to your requirement, that is sharing your internet connection. i think you can easily do this with XP/2003, just follow the instructions in the connection wizard (for 2003 at least), to enable sharing the pppoe connection and ICF protection on it. personally, i dont think this has any difference with your initial need ("I want to share one connection, and keep one for XP machine only") because both your XP and other internal clients can access the internet at same time.

if you need further helps or requirements, please let us know.

hope it helps,
bbao

of course, if you really need this feature, why dont you just try the latest version of raspppoe from robert? please go here to download this version which is declared compatible with XP, .net and other windows platforms:

I've tested 2 simultaneous pppoe connections on Windows and it works well.
But I was never able to establish 2 pppoe connections using a single pppoe driver(MS' pppoe or raspppoe)
It worked when one connection was established using MS' pppoe and the other using raspppoe.
Hope this helps
