Browse All Topicsfirst of all hello and thank you in advance. heres my situation:
my manager wants a 2nd, different, domain to be setup on our network for a new business venture. the new department requires its own DC, AD accounts, etc. my 1st question is can 2 different domains run on the same network segment (subnet)? the 2nd domain will not use dhcp so thats not an issue...
if the answer to that is "yes" then my second question is about setting up dns on the 2nd domain controller. the server is win2k3 sbs and ive installed all the necessary services. right now im stuck at dns. nslookup keeps failing when i run it. i get :
"*** Can't find server name for address 10.1.1.5: Non-existent domain Default Server: UnKnown"
i have set an available static ip on the dc, and i have set the primary dns to point to itself, and a secondary to point to our isp. what am i forgetting?

Hi OmegaProgrammer,
Yes you can have mult domain on one subnet. Do you have an A(HOST) record in DNS on the primary server for the 2nd DC?
