Hello,
On one of our notebook PC's it takes a very long time for the system to load the "look in" drop down menu. Once loaded it also takes a long time to connect to a network drive found in this menu - local drives connect quickly. This problem is isolated to one laptop. The client who uses this laptop also uses this laptop at home and has his personal drives mapped to his network at home.
What could be causing the slow load times
An example on how to simulate this situation:
1) Open up word
2) Click File -> Open
For the "look in" drop down menu to appear takes a good 30 seconds to load
Other details that might be useful to know:
1) in the office the laptop connects to a Windows 2000 server for authentication
2) file server where users access programs and save data too is a windows 2000 server
3) home server is a windows xp home based network
4) The laptop is running windows xp pro sp2 tablet edition.
5) Tested in both a wired and wireless connection
Things already tried:
1) ensured there are no cd's in the cd rom drive
2) ensured the network cable is good
3) ensured all the network settings are correct
