How can I automatically change http://192.168.1.2/folder/
I need the port to be added to the url if it is not already there.

I don't think I explained the senario very well. The client PC in question is not hosting the url. The client PC is connecting to an external web server and must connect using ip adress: port even if the port is not added. So if someone enters http://www.website.co.uk it automatically redirects to http://www.website.co.uk:9
or shortcuts for novices. I agree that it is a server-side issue, not for each individual client. For the how-to, it can depend on SW products in use, and networking devices for routing. Some will take this server-side address for filesystem:
http://192.168.1.2:9002/fo
and allow user/client to refer to it as
MyCompany.com
(so DNS can also help, as well as configuring IIS or whatever company is using for webserving)
