The Solution Rating System

With so many solutions, how can you tell which solutions are most likely to help you and which ones are not? To provide you with a tool to use, we rate our solutions based on various elements that most accurately determine if a solution is a quality solution. To explain what factors affect the solution rating, here are the elements we take into consideration when formulating our solution rating.

  • The Grade of the Solution
  • The Zone Rank of the Expert Providing the Solution
  • The Number of Author and Expert Comments
  • The Number of Experts Contributing
  • The Feedback of the Community

Your Input Matters
Because of the way the system is set up, the most important variable in this equation is you. As a member of Experts Exchange, you are able to cast your vote on the quality of the solutions in regard to how complete, accurate, helpful and easy to understand each solution is. When you provide your feedback, each rating is adjusted accordingly. So, if you see a solution that has a poor rating that you think is a good solution, let us know by rating it. As you do, the rating will be adjusted and will become more accurate for other members of our site.

If you have any suggestions that you would like to make for our rating system, please ask a question in the Suggestions Zone of Community Support.

Thank you!

Download speed difference between Windows 2003 and 2000

I have a problem about download speeds from Windows 2003/2000.
Windows 2000, IIS 5 it gave me double download speed compared to Windows 2003, IIS 6. Upload speed is the same, no matter 2000 or 2003. I have tried to install a small webserver (tinyweb) in order to detect if this is a IIS behaviour or Windows behaviour. I also found this large difference, when using tinyweb.

These test are run from 2 links from 2 different servers, but in the same datacenter, connected to the same switch, connected to the same router. Windows 2000 (SP4) is an older Pentium III server and Windows 2003 (SP1) is a new 2xXeon 3Ghz server.

I've tried to test download speeds from my fast 20Mbit ADSL connection (denmark) as well as a German 3 Mbit connection. No matter 3Mbit or 20Mbit, I always get ½ speed on Windows 2003 compared to Windows 2000.

My 20Mbit connection gave me 6,5 Mbit download speed in Windows 2000 and Windows 2003 gave me 3,4 Mbit.

The German 3Mbit connection gave me 1,5 Mbit download speed in Windows 2000 and Windows 2003 gave me 630 Kbit.

Has anyone experience with this wierd situation?
