Thanks for the reply!
Ok, managed to fix it. Both NIC's were set to auto. Must have been confusing it.......
Set them both to 100mbs full and it picked up an address straight off!

Currently just want to test a Windows Server 2003 DHCP server. I have a laptop setup to automatically assign ip address. I have connected this laptop directly to the DHCP server using a crossover cable.
The DHCP server has a scope setup and is activated and authorized.
When i go to renew the ip address on the laptop it fails.
Any ides of what i am doing wrong? Can you connect a PC directly to a DHCP server and receive an ip address?
Thanks in advance,
Iain

Yes though the DHCP server might need telling to serve DHCP requests out of the interface the laptop is connected to - and it needs to be able to see AD at the same time (it will be trying to update DNS records etc)
