Hi guys this is a basic networking question. I am having a bit of trouble understanding and setting up properly a network at home between my (very old) windows 2000 server machine and the newer windows xp machine. I connected them both with a network cable to a netgear router/firewall/switch which also gives them both broadband internet connection fine.  That part is working well. i tried to set up a network between the two pc's but i am having trouble seeing each other's files equally. on the w2k pc, i can through "my network places" see the xp machine's files on its c: drive. i shared all the drives and folders on both machines i wanted each other to see. (yes with the little hand under the folder or drive).

But on the xp machine on my network places i cant access the w2k machine's shared folders or drives. why cant i see them? what am i doing wrong guys? sorry for this question.
i tried doing the loopback ping command it both machines reply fine. the router is working ok.

isnt there an easier way of doing this?Start Free Trial
