We will be forwarding traffic from outside the LAN to this server. I am thinking we would not have to worry that it is not published.
Is that error just a generic message then? Any way to disable it?

I have only one NIC per server however the NLB is in Multicast Mode. I thought I didn't need more than one NIC with mulicast and it seems to work correctly. Why would I get this error and should I be concerned?

No need to be concerned if the cluster is running in multicast. Be aware, though, that when using multicast, usually only hosts in the cluster's subnet are able to access the cluster address, because most routers don't publish multicast addresses; you'd have to create static ARP entries for access from subnets.
