trouble deleting trust

I have two domains that are in different forrests.  I had a Realm trust setup between them and my partner broke the trust so now in one of the domains you can not see the trust anymore.  But if you try to redo the trust it tells you that it is in a inconsistant state and to remove it and try again.  I tried the "netdom trust domain-1/ d:domain-2 /remove /force" but it failed. I would appreciate any help with this problem.
