DHCP & Internet not working after installing Firewire card

I am running XP Home, connecting to Internet via Linksys BEFW11S4 Cable/DSL Router/4-port hub/wireless access point. I have a DSL connection.

Everything worked fine until I installed a Firewire card. Actually, I have tried 2 firewire cards, one from SIIG and one from Belkin, both with the same results.

After installation, I cannot see the net. All other computers work fine, so I am sure it is this comp. DHCP does not work, but the DHCP service is running. I cannot ping my router. I can however, see the rest of the computers on the LAN. Amazingly, the MS Autoupdater still seems to be able to get out to the net.

I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling TCP/IP. I have reinstalled XP (I selected upgrade, not new, option). The only thing I have found that works is to remove card and use system restore to get to a previous point. But after reinstalling XP, all my system restore points are blown away, so now I'm really hosed.

Please tell me how I might solve this. Thanks.
