Well, you will actually be querying the Active Directory via LDAP, not Exchange. All the Exchange 2000 info is in AD.

But yes, anon access is allowed... probably what you are trying to do will dictate a need for authentification or not. Read only is pretty flexible for anon access, when you start editing though...
Here is a reaaaaaly generic sample, save as something.asp and throw it on a web enabled domain controller. may need to be a global catalog as well... No other settings needed though.
