I wanted to set each PC with a static ip address, but the ME PC had no facility to set a static ip address. This is a bit sketchy because I don't have access to the PC's, they are 150 miles away with no dialin access. Any thoughts?

I asked the user to do the following:
1. right click on the network neighborhood desktop icon,
2. select properties from the menu,
3. highlight 'Internet Protocol(TCP/IP)' in the box with the white background,
4. choose properties,
5. then on this next screen are the fields 'IP address' and 'Subnet mask' displayed (maybe greyed out)
His reply was as follows:
At 3: I get tcp/ip Properties
At 4: he gets Bindings, Advanced, DNS Configuration, (which has DNS disabled ) nothing else on page
They are clicking directly on the adapter, not the tcp/ip for that adapter
they have to scroll down to get to the tcp/ip for the adapter
It will look like
tcp/ip -> 3com etherlink III
(or what ever adapter they have, it will list it by name)
Make sure that tcp is bound to the adapter, by clicking on the adapter (in network neighborhood properties) and then the bindings tab, tcp should have a check
then they should b able to scroll down to tcp/ip for the specific adapter
