Waking up a file server

I am not sure this is completely on-topic for this forum, but here goes:

I have a small peer to peer network. All computers are using XP Home. One of the computers acts as a file server for the other four computers and is never used as a work station.

From time to time, I am not able to contact the file server and have found this is because it has gone into stand by from lack of actvity. So my question is this:

What is the best way to handle the power management of this file server? Should I just set it to never go into standby/hibernate? Or so I try to impletment a "Wake on Lan" solution?

personally, I say never let it hibernate
the wake on LAN may take it some time to wake, causing errors to be thrown

I'm with Steve.  Power management is problematic enough on laptops.  If you want to use power management, limit it to powering off the monitor only and do not allow the server, it's hard drives, or even the network cards (Wake on LAN) to "go to sleep".  It is just not worth the miniscule amount of power it might save you.
