The Solution Rating System

With so many solutions, how can you tell which solutions are most likely to help you and which ones are not? To provide you with a tool to use, we rate our solutions based on various elements that most accurately determine if a solution is a quality solution. To explain what factors affect the solution rating, here are the elements we take into consideration when formulating our solution rating.

  • The Grade of the Solution
  • The Zone Rank of the Expert Providing the Solution
  • The Number of Author and Expert Comments
  • The Number of Experts Contributing
  • The Feedback of the Community

Your Input Matters
Because of the way the system is set up, the most important variable in this equation is you. As a member of Experts Exchange, you are able to cast your vote on the quality of the solutions in regard to how complete, accurate, helpful and easy to understand each solution is. When you provide your feedback, each rating is adjusted accordingly. So, if you see a solution that has a poor rating that you think is a good solution, let us know by rating it. As you do, the rating will be adjusted and will become more accurate for other members of our site.

DNS does not forward requests

Greetings from Athnes, Greece and my best wishes for a happy new year.

Here is my problem:

I have a Windows 2000 Server, running AD,DHCP and DNS. Last week I set up a Broadband connection for the company (ADSL).
I setup the DNS to forward requests to ISP's DNS servers but it doesn't seem to work.
Now I only have the workstations with internet acces by adding the ip for the DNS servers of the ISP in DHCP scope option for DNS (006). I know this is the wrong way but it was the only one to give the clients internet access.
If i ping from server an IP, I'm getting replies, but pinging by name or trying nslookup has no effect.
Here is  a description of the setup.

Domain Controller:
IP : 192.168.0.200
DHCP : no
DNS : 192.168.0.200
Default Gateway : 192.168.0.254 (ADSL Router's IP)

Clients:
IP : Dynamic
DHCP : Yes
DNS: 192.168.0.200
         195.170.0.1 (ISP'S primary DNS)
         195.170.2.2 (ISP's alternate DNS)
Default Gateway : 192.168.0.254 (ADSL Router's IP)

Clients resolve exterlan names to IP only if i ad the IP of the ISP's DNS (i.e. nslookup www.yahoo.com 195.170.0.1).
Otherwise they do not...

The server does not resolve external names with or without ISP's DNS

Any help ?
