Windows cannot load the user's profile but has logged you on with the default profile for the system

When logging onto Windows 2000 Terminal Server SP 4 as a user who has logged on previously to this server, the following message appears:

"Windows cannot load your profile.  Please increase the registry size and restart the computer."    
(However, we've increased the registry size already and it is nowhere near the limit.  We've also done a reg clean.)  Then, the following message appears:

"Windows cannot load the user's profile but has logged you on with the default profile for the system."  (But this is not true; it logs the user on as the user, and does not select another profile.  HOWEVER, sometimes if 2 users are logged on , when logging off the system will say you are logging off the other user's account, even though your own desktop settings appear on screen.)

Below this, the following appears:

"Detail - insufficient system resources exist to complete the requested service."

it sounds like your registry is too big.  i know you say you increased the size and it is nowhere near the limit, but who did you increase it?  and how are you determining the size?

how large is your ntuser.dat file in the cgloukhoff directory?

Thanks for your comments.  The current reg size is 132 MB and the maximum size has been increased to 200 MB.  I'm determining the size by going to to system properties > performance options >change and viewing the reg size there.

For my personal user login I've tried deleting and recreating, and I still will get the same message.  I've also individually deleted the my ntuser.dat file.  Another user that is having the problem - his ntuser.dat file is 8 KB.

We also recently deleted multiple user profiles from this server when this problem first started occuring.  Not sure if that compounded the problem.

Even though this problem occurs, everything seems to work fine after the message appears (except for hte logout issue in which it tells you that you are logging out as another user).  However, it's our Cold Fusion server, and I'm worried that this may be the precursor of bigger things to come.

My manager has found this MS KB article http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;140364 which seems to have solved this problem.
