Dear Naser ,
What are the steps i should do to make this Ethernet Disk a member of domanin because as u know when u add a PC to domain u gave it a user name and password so you can let this PC be a memeber of the domain ... so how can i make this DISK log in to the domain to let the Users access this Storage mass.
Resources do not 'login' to the domain like users.. Take a printer, for example.. you add it to Active Directory primarily for ease of finding the objects...
Regarding your device, you just setup the configuration with proper IP Address, subnet mask, and optional addresses, and then you can use Network Places to find the hard drive with Netbios, or I assume you can query it with the Run Line and IP Address...
How do I install the LaCie Ethernet Disk?
STEP 1: ATTACHING THE CABLES
Connect the power cable. Then, connect the Ethernet cable.
STEP 2: POWER ON
Press the power button. Once the READY LED turns on, you can start to configure your LaCie Ethernet Disk.
STEP 3: NETWORK CONFIGURATOR
Insert the LaCie Ethernet Disk CD-ROM into a computer attached to the same network as the LaCie Ethernet Disk, and install the LaCie Ethernet Disk Configurator to start configuring your drive.
STEP 4: USING THE WEB ADMINISTRATION PAGE
Open your web browser to http://IP address. (The IP address stands for the IP address assigned to your LaCie Ethernet Disk by the Network Configurator). Click on Administrator and use “administrator” for the username and “admin” for the password.
To access the LaCie Ethernet Disk using Microsoft Windows, look in My Network Places. By default, the LaCie Ethernet Disk will be named “LaCie-XXXXXXXXX”
How can I assign permissions to a domain user or group for a shared folder on the Ethernet Disk?
You need to log in to the web application with a user who is a member of the ‘Domain Admins’ group. At the login prompt, type in the username like this: DOMAIN\username (“DOMAIN” is the name of your domain and “username” is the name of the user account). The domain users and groups will now be available in the list of users when editing a share.
Note: You can only assign permissions to global domain users or groups.
I hope these tips help you.

Dear Naser,
on the Step 4 u did write to me , about WEB ADMINISTRATION PAGE i did write the LACIE ETHERNET MINI IP adress there , but i get an empty page named LaCieMini NAS.
So ...where's the problem ??
i thought that maybe i can add it as a shared device to this domain but How ?? it's not like a printer ...
and Thanks again for you help .
Omar.
>>i did write the LACIE ETHERNET MINI IP adress there
I assumed that you pass all steps stated above, and you did put the IP add of your HD in the address bar of your Explorer,
Check if you are able to browser the HD through my network places, can you see it named “LaCie-XXXXXXXXX”?
Please answer the following Questios:
Did you manage to install NETWORK CONFIGURATOR, and gave it an IP Add?
Also, have you read the manual?
Please let me know..
Naser
Omar,
If the HD is connected to the switch, and you gave it an IP add, try to connect using UNC, type in the add bar "\\IP ADD"
OR in the IE type this http://IP_ADD_HD
You will be prompted to enter the user name and password, do as i mentioned in my previouse post, and you should be able to connect.
then if No joy, do the following tests
Check connectivity:
Go to Start, Run, CMD, hit enter
A dos prompt will be opened, right down the following:
PING IP Add of the HD
If it's not shown connectivity then check the cable, and if there is any activities from the HD.
If all that not work, then i believe you missed something during the settings, or you might need to contact the dealer you bought it from and ask him about you issue, because you runout of idea's.
Good luck,
Naser

By clicking on the blue button to the right of Windows Work-group, in the General section of the Configuration menu, you will be taken to the Change Workgroup page. From here you can modify the domain or workgroup to which the LaCie Eth-ernet Disk mini is attached. If you have altered the workgroup or domain, click the Submit Changes button to activate your changes.
