Slow windows 2003 connection to mysql

I have php as a web server on a IIS windows 2003 web edition on one machine and a mysql database installed on another win xp pro machine.
Ever since I have upgraded to my web server win 2003 I have a very slow connection between my website and the mysql machine.

Please help.
What should I check?
I don't know if this is the right place to post this.

have you looked at perfmon and done some recording of whats causing the slowness

probably the NIC counters would be your best bet to see if its a traffic issue

no need for apologies at all and this is just a small option

start - run - perfmon

under system monitor right click and add counter -

under performance object choose Network Interface

this will show you in real time whats going on - may help but may not as well
