Windows XP Spoolsv.exe

Hi All,

Anybody seen this type of thing before im trying to install a HP colur laser 1600 and everytime i install the drivers it send xp crazy. Afer a reboot i get C++ Runtime errors on spoolsv.exe then the print spooler service wont start and i cant do anything with printers. All i can do is to go into the registry down to current control set under print and remove the drivers.

Any ideas?

I would look for a differnt driver from HP.  I've noticed lately they are trying a 'universal hp driver' that my guess is it identifys the printer and downloads drivers from the internet-- It caused no end of problems.  There are generally several types of drivers for the same printer like PCL5 PCL6.. I'd make sure you have the right driver, (not the universal one) and if you do try different ones (like previous ones if the one you used was the 'latest and greatest')

I'd start there, I would think about trying to fix XP when it's the driver that has problems.. when you have the options try a different driver as that's more than likely your problem, not Windows XP in this case.
yup drivers for sure.....if you still have the issue after trying a different driver, then try running cleanspl.exe
