Can you ping the IP address of another work station on the workgroup?

Browse All TopicsHi
This PC and all the others in this particular office are in a windows workgroup - not a domain and i have a PC that has just started to not be able to use network resources or browse the local workgroup devices (printing in particular). There are NO servers OS's in the workgroup, all PC's are Windows XP. All previously worked fine until this morning (or perhaps over the weekend).
I get the error:
'workgroup' is not accessible. You might not have permission to use this network resource. Contact the administrator of this server to find out if you have access permissions. Not enough server storage is available to process this command.
I get this error when i am logged in as the local user and as the local administrator. It should not be user account related as the user name and password are the same on 2 PC's including the one where the printer is that i am trying to print to, and even so, the administrator P/w is the same on ALL PC's in the office.
I have checked the virtual memory and it high at 900mb
I am able to remote into this PC over the LAN.
There are some BROWSER errors in the Event log about browser services failing to retrieve server lists and backup lists - Event ID error codes 8032 and 8021
Please can someone help me as i need to get to the bottom of this and restore networking for this user.
Many thanks
Erika

Try it again from the client computer, and then check the event viewer on the target machine. You get there as Start>Control Panel>Administrative Tools>Event Viewer>System. See if there are any errors there that indicate a problem. You might also check the Securiy events while you are the if the System events don't give a clue.
By the way, I had the same problem. I used the Norton Removal Tool (http://service1.symantec.

I wonder though - how many systems you have on this workgroup? XP Pro can only accept 10 incoming connections...
