I currently have a wired and wireless network in my office consisting of 3 laptops and three desktop computers. The desktops have PCI network adapters and the dell laptops use their built in wireless network adapters. I connect to the internet via satellite and a D-LINK WBR-2310 router.
I have just built a second office about 100 feet away and the dense wall construction is blocking wireless communications. My plan is to run a cat 5 cable to the new office and connect it to a D-LINK DWL-2100AP Wireless Access Point.
There will be 3 laptops in the new office and it would be preferable if the laptops would retain the same IP addresses when moving between offices.
My first question is does my proposed configuration make sense or is there a better way?
My second question is how should the Access Point be configured to meet my objectives?
Thanks in advance,
John
