How do I tell hamachi to tunnel through to the website I would like to use. For example can I tell firefox or a even a virtual machine to use the internet connection from the computer in the required country ?
Main Topics
Browse All TopicsI often travel and some of the websites I visit do not allow connections from abroad. In the past I have simply used proxies like findnot to connect to these.
However sometimes their IP addresses are blacklisted and neither do I like paying for the service.
Is it possible to use OpenVPN and a computer in that country to set-up a proxy ? So that it seems as though I am actually using that computer in the UK ?
I have never used OpenVPN but it sounds like it can do this, and wondered where I could find out how.

Basically in the options of your internet browser you can configure the address and port of the proxy server. So here you will put the IP of your computer running a proxy service, you will establish the VPN tunnel to get additional virtual interface (together with some IP address) so you will appear to be on the same LAN as your proxy - thus being able to use it or any other type of service. But keep in mind that in this case will all web traffic go through the proxy server so the browsing may be slower (but this is how proxies work, nothing specific).

Hi, ki/Hamachi
actually you have a good idea which is not too difficult to bring to life.
Please check this page

Hamachi is the application based on OpenVPN which is very popular and becoming used widely. You can install it on your laptop or personal computer and on the computer which is in the required country. This way you will configure a VPN tunnel between these two networks and you can "tunnel trhough" to the website blocking your current location country.
Actually you can configure the "middle" computer to run some proxy application. Or what is even easier is just to remote to that middle machine and through its desktip browse tha websites you want.

Martin
